Since 1991, Mandy Kachur has been working as an acoustics and noise control engineer. Prior to joining Soundscape Engineering, Mandy was Senior Consulant in charge of the Ann Arbor office for the Grand Rapids based Acoustics By Design. Previous to that position, she was an Acoustics Specialist at the Detroit based architectural and engineering firm Albert Kahn Associates, where integration into multi-discinplinary project teams heightened her sensitivity to the need for practical acoustical solutions that mesh with all aspects of a project's design.
She has worked on over 300 architectural projects, including auditoriums, healthcare facilities, university buildings, K-12 schools, acoustical and other laboratory facilities, corporate offices, courthouses, hotel and residential buildings, performing arts and recording spaces, museums, and industrial facilities.
Mandy is a Board-Certified Member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering and currently serves on its Board of Directors and as co-chair of the Building Acoustics Technical Committee. She has been active with the Acoustical Society of America subcommittee charged with authoring the extensive acoustics section in the 2010 ASHE Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities.
She is an adjunct professor at Lawrence Technological University, and has been published at INCE conferences, at ASA meetings and in the American Journal of Nursing. She is also a violinist with the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra.
