HVAC Noise Control Consulting for University Classroom Building
Ferris State University
Granger Center for Construction and HVACR 1
Big Rapids, Michigan
The Granger Center at Ferris State University houses the Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration and Construction Technology & Management programs. It was conceived as a building that teaches, where the mechanical and electrical systems are exposed.
Services are color coded so that they can be followed throughout the building. Mechanical rooms on two levels have a full height sound isolating windows so that the mechanical equipment is visible from the student commons.
The new addition doubled the size of the older Construction Technology Center, and the existing building underwent renovation.
Acoustical work in this facility included sound isolation for the exposed building systems, classrooms, offices and auditorium; room acoustics analysis and finish selection for the student commons, auditorium and training laboratories; room shaping for the lecture hall; and HVAC noise control throughout the building.
